If you want to add Facebook’s new “Like” button to your blog post (just like the one I have added above), follow these steps:

1. Go to Facebook’s Social Plugin page, type in your URL to like and click Get Code. Below are the default setting that I have left in place. However, you can specify a different layout, width, font, etc.

2. When you are posting your blog post just go to the HTML tab (I am using WordPress) and paste the code right at the beginning of your post. As easy as that!

And don’t forget to click on the Like button above if you like this post!

UPDATE: apparently some folks are reporting some issues with the Like button on their blogs, it seems that it is buggy and not always working. Facebook has not issued any official statement on the topic yet.

  1. I’ve had great results with the SNV Facebook Like plugin for WordPress… install it once, it automatically adds the button to your posts.

    Aaron, thank you so much for sharing. This is really handy!

  3. Adding a Facebook ‘Like’ button to the posts are made really easy with WordPress. If you want to add the Like button to a WordPress theme, all you have to do is just add following code to the single.php file, where you want to have it exactly. Single.php file can be found in the theme folder. That’s it! Done! And it’ll work perfectly..

    <iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=&layout=standard&show-faces=true&width=530&height=60&action=like&colorscheme=light" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" style="border:none; overflow:hidden; width:530px; height:60px">

    Make sure, adjust the height according to your need. So, it won't show up any unnecessary space below the like button! Hope this trick will do the addition of 'Like' button, without a plugin! Cool. Happy sharing!

    Thank you, Tharique! I’ll try this out. Yes, the height is definitely and issue – it is huge :)

  5. Mitch Canter says:

    Aaron and Ekaterina,
    Awesome to hear you both like the plugin :) I’m glad to see people getting use out of it. Let me know if there’s anything I can do to improve it!

  6. Ekaterina Walter says:

    Mitch, this is great. I just installed your plugin and it works fine. However, it shows on the bottom of the post. And I don’t see the option of pulling it on top. Do you have the update that I can download that allows this? Or can you help me with the right html coding to make this change?

  7. How do you remove the button from the bottom of all your pages. I only want the button to be on my posts?????

    Thanks
